Professor Elliott leads the Orthopaedic Translational Engineering Lab and oversees NIH and industry funded projects. His research aims to engineer novel solutions for clinical problems in orthopaedic trauma surgery, debridement, infection and cancer, and developing point-of-care devices for these spaces. He is a faculty member of Geisel, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Engineering at Thayer, and a PhD graduate of Western University. He is also Co-Founder of FWD Imaging Inc., an early stage biotech startup. He enjoys skiing, camping, hiking with his wife and three children.
Valentin is a Research Scientist with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Saratov State University (Russia), Masters of Science in Biomedical Physics from Ryerson University (Canada) and PhD in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto (Canada) on "Shedding light on radiotherapy: quantifying early tumor response with optical coherence tomography". He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and joined the faculty in 2022. He is working on optical coherence tomography of biofilms and radiation therapy to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Samuel Streeter a Research Scientist and he received his B.A. and B.E. in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and his Ph.D. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. His research interests include optical structured light imaging and X-ray micro-computed tomography. He has published several papers on these topics and has received awards such as the John W. Strohbehn, PhD, Memorial Prize, the SPIE Translational Research Award, and the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. He is also a mentor for the Dartmouth Rural STEM Educator Partnership, where he shares his passion for science with students from rural communities. In his spare time, he enjoys running, whitewater paddling, and exploring the outdoors.
Jason joined the OTEL in 2023. He works on developing novel optical tools and methods for biomedical applications, building on his background in biotechnology and immunology. He formerly worked at Celdara Medical, Dartmouth College and Wyeth for over 25 years. He graduated with a BS degree from the University of New Hampshire. Jason loves coaching youth sports, skiing/snowboarding and spending time with his wife and 3 children..
Scott is an Engineering Lab Technician and responsible for design, production and testing of fabricated equipment and deliverables for an industry funded project. A graduate of the Thayer (Class of 2012) A.B./B.E. program, Scott previously worked as an Engineer at General Dynamics in Detroit and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME.
Logan is supervised by Eric Henderson, and co-supervised by Jonathan Elliott. He completed his BE at and is working on his Masters in Engineering, while studying to attend medical school.
Yue is supervised by Shudong Jiang (primary) and co-supervised by Jonathan Elliott. He completed his BE at Zhejiang University and started graduate school in Fall 2020. He is working on the intraoperative fluorescence imaging of orthopaedic trauma projects.
Dr. Gitajn is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon who focuses on complex fractures and dislocations of the upper and lower limbs, fracture complications, malunions and nonunions, and care of the polytraumatized patient. She has extensive experience in conducting clinical and translational trials on orthopaedic infections and wound healing. In the past five years, she has received approximately 11 million in federal funding. She is an Assistant Professor of Geisel, graduate of Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Henderson is an orthopaedic surgeon at DHMC who specializes in pediatric and adult bone and soft-tissue sarcomas, connective tissue tumors, and metastatic disease of the bones. He completed his orthopaedic oncology fellowship at Harvard Combined Orthopaedics Residency Prograph (HCORP) in Boston, MA. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and an MD graduate of University of South Florida College of Medicine.
